List of Serpent Pokémon
This list started as snakes. And yes, there are snakes here! But there's so many, like… eels? Long aquatic guys? To the point that calling this a list of snakes seemed inaccurate. So now it's "serpents", which sounds more fantastical and can refer to a wider array of creatures. Long guys.
Green background means snakes, blue means eels/aquatic, and red means… other. Which includes burrowing guys, and Giratina Origin Forme.
Ekans & Arbok | Onix & Steelix | Gyarados |
Dratini & Dragonair | Dunsparce & Dudunsparce | Seviper |
Milotic | Huntail & Gorebyss | Rayquaza |
Giratina Origin Forme | Snivy, Servine, & Serperior | Tynamo, Eelektrik, & Eelektross |
Zygarde, 50% Mode | Silicobra & Sandaconda | Wiglett & Wugtrio |
Orthworm | Tatsugiri | Applin, Dipplin, & Hydrapple |
Dunsparce may seem like an odd choice for this list, but they're based on tsuchinoko, a yōkai that is basically a fat snake. An alternate name for it, bachi hebi, translates to "bee snake", which is likely the inspiration for Dunsparce's existence.
Also, I feel like I need to justify putting only half the Applin line on here. Orthworm establishes that worms are allowed on this page, but I only consider Applin and Dipplin worms. Flapple and Appletun have both evolved into more dragon-like creatures, but Hydrapple's individual bodies are called "syrpents" in their Pokédex entries. This half of the line is worms that evolve into syrpents, thus they belong on the page.
