List of Feline Pokémon

Cats are one of my favorite normal animals, and of course Pokémon has a bunch of them. Honestly, the Pokémon cat lineup is pretty odd, seeming big and small simultaneously. This list includes all types of felines, from housecats to lions.

It's worth noting that there are long-standing arguments about whether certain Pokémon are cats or not. By itself, this is interesting, tying into the fact that earlier generations designed Pokémon more conceptually, not really based on specific species. To reflect this, Pokémon that are technically not cats have a yellow background. They're on the list because I wanted to be comprehensive. That, and sometimes you just want a Pokémon that looks kinda like a cat, but is not literally a cat. Explanations for them are at the bottom of the page.

Electabuzz is more of a monster than anything, but it has a tiger tail. If I had to find an animal that Electabuzz most reminds me of, I would say "tiger", and that gets it on the list, as silly as that is.

Eeveelutions are weird. If you want to assign them a specific species, they're probably most like foxes, but the truth is that they're creatures. They're fun little guys. You could call them felines, if you wanted. Espeon and Umbreon look the most like cats, above anything else, but since they're part of a larger line… creatures.

As revealed in the Spaceworld leak, the Hoppip line used to more distinctly be cats! Which I never realized before, but now I feel like they deserve a place on a kitty list.

The Legendary Beasts (Raikou, Entei, and Suicune) have had… a lot of arguments about what species they are. Like, it was a Whole Thing to argue whether they were the "legendary dogs" or the "legendary cats". I think they're all cats— a sabertooth tiger, a lion, and a leopard, respectively.

Landorus Therian could, arguably, be based on a big cat. So, like, sure, why not.

One I missed the first time around: Pumpkaboo is technically not a cat, and is obviously a pumpkin. However, I consider it a perfect Halloween Pokémon, and it's kind of a mix of the big Halloween symbols... including black cats. I think it's close enough.

Chien-Pao is simultaneously a weasel and a snow leopard to me, and I love it for that.

Kotora is not arguable for being a cat, it's clearly a tiger; but since it's not an official Pokémon that got released. It's on the list because Kotora is real in my heart. I love you Kotora I'm so sorry you never got to exist
